Frequently Asked Questions

Find out more about our school sports clubs.

Do after-school clubs let children from other schools attend?

No, children from other schools are unable to attend after-school clubs if they are not a pupil of the school. Our after-school clubs are only available for children that are already pupils at the school the session is running at. You can see what after-school clubs are running at your child's school by using the handy search tool on our website.

How long are after-school clubs?

Our after-school clubs will usually last one hour (typically from 15:20 to 16:20). This makes sure that there is plenty of time for kids to learn new skills, and to participate in a healthy amount of exercise. You can check how long each after-school club lasts on the course details when you book.

What is the ratio of adults to kids for sport activities?

Our current coach to child ratio for Holiday Camps and sports activities is 1:16. This means that there are 16 children for every coach. This ratio makes sure that all children are looked after with care and attention. For our extra curricular clubs our ratio is 1:20. This means that there are 20 children for every coach.

How much physical activity should a child have per day?

The recommended amount of physical activity that children should have each day is one hour, as stated by Dr Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical Officer in the United Kingdom.

Can I send in snacks for my child?

Absolutely! You're welcome to send a healthy snack for your child. Please note, however, that we have a strict 'no nuts' policy for the safety of all children.

How many after-school activities should a child do?

We recommend that your child attends two or three active after-school sessions each week. After-school clubs are a fantastic way to help children spend one hour each day doing physical activity — as recommended by the UK's Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty. It is important to consider how much physical activity your child will be taking part in throughout the school day, with P.E lessons and lunch clubs. You may also find it helpful to ask your child how many after-school activities they want to do.

Why is physical activity important for child development?

Physical activity is crucial for a child's personal development for several reasons. Firstly, physical activity can inspire children to develop a healthy, active lifestyle. This lifestyle is not only beneficial to their physical health but is also proven to benefit mental health. Through taking part in a range of physical activities, children are able to learn a range of social skills that will help them throughout their education, and into adult life. This includes growing confidence and interacting with others. Studies have shown time and time again that children who participate in physical activity are able to stay more focussed during lessons. This ability to focus is important for their personal and academic development.

Do I need to collect my child and take them to the after school club?

Once your booking is confirmed you will receive an automated email confirmation, this acts as a receipt. Please advise your child's teacher the sport or club your child will be attending afterschool so they can ensure your child is taken there and handed over to our team. You will then need to collect your child at the end of the session as stated on the booking confirmation. If your child is going to a wrap around care after the sport, please provide a written note so your child can pass this to our member of staff delivering the activity.
